Stephen Morris (pretentiously, Stephe for short - pronounced the same way as “Steve”) has been writing about music ever since a work experience placement with BBC Gloucestershire in November 2002. The week of Children in Need saw him darting around Gloucestershire witnessing male insurance office team leaders getting their legs waxed and Scouts wielding bows and arrows.

But the most fun he had was writing Queen related competition questions to win tickets to see a tribute act (WOW!) and writing four music reviews. They were for local bands called Silverman, Shelby, Charkoal and, best of all, a band with the most fantastic name of The Furverts.

Ever since then Stephe has been writing about up and coming bands like there was no tomorrow. While living and writing about music in Gloucestershire he enjoyed the pleasure of a gig on a boat, courtesy of a band called Earnest Cox.

And he endured the perils of a death threat courtesy of a thrash metal band called Dark Heart. The police got involved, Dark Heart were banned from performing ever again and everything worked out for the best. Eventually.

After moving to Kent, Stephe continued writing for BBC Gloucestershire (including attending 2010's Wychwood Festival on press duties) but also got stuck into writing for BBC Kent Introducing as well, reviewing the likes of Ellie Goulding before she hit the big time.

He also spread his wings, writing occasional reviews for BBC Birmingham and then secured a position as reviewer for noizemakesenemies.co.uk on the recommendation of 6Music’s Tom Robinson. While writing for noize, he got to review up and coming acts from Everything Everything to well established musical giants like Gil Scott-Heron.

In 2011, Stephe got even more involved in the world of reviewing and music in general. March saw the launch of RockKent.com. Stephe continues a regular contributor to the site with CD and gig reviews and interviews.

Not forgetting his south-west routes he started writing for 247, an entertainment and lifestyle magazine covering the South West and West of England and Wales, in June 2011. At the same time, Stephe started writing for Shout4Music.com, writing about signed artists from Battles to The Kinks. He is now Features Editor for Shout4Music, producing a weekly top ten downloads articles along with various themed features.

If you want to get in touch to recommend a band in desperate need of reviewing, to comment on a review or simply invite Stephe round for a cup of tea, please get in touch.
